Commended by Outburn in an 8/10 review for its “depressing dynamics topped by ethereal wonderment,” Constantinople was released stateside via Neurot Recordings late this Spring and continues to reap critical accolades from fans and critics alike. A collusion of musical forces precipitated by the haunting and inimitable vocal prowess of singer/bassist Sera Timms (Black Math Horseman), IDES OF GEMINI paint dark black tapestries of sound that are at once delicate and menacing.

“…a dirg-y doom crawl of an album…” – Decibel

“Processional doom, ethereal female harmonies and high-strung riffs incite head-bowing, not -banging.” – Spin

“IDES OF GEMINI perceptively balance subtlety with dexterity, appreciating that music with this much emotive potential requires poise and sagacity. “ – Hellbound

“…darkly beautiful…” – Pitchfork

“…haunting and intriguing…” – The 1st Five

“…a proverbial treasure chest in terms of atmosphere, ideas and contrasting musical textures…original and breathtaking.” – About.com

“Their accretion of small musical gestures inverts metal’s normal use of space. They imply terror without ever exposing it. Each song is an accumulation of outlines, a sort of sonic daguerreotype.” – MetalSucks

“…music that calls to mind deserts and tundras, angry ghosts emerging from the ether.” – RVA Mag

“Whereas Black Math Horseman makes you feel as if you’ve taken a wrong turn into a desolate medieval village, illuminated by the flicker of mere lanterns, IDES OF GEMINIhovers above complete darkness in a realm that can only be felt by those who welcome it.” – This Is Not A Scene
